Programa Para o Futuro - Partners

The Programa Para o Futuro project demonstrates the power of partnerships for development and social benefit. Several levels of partnerships are enabling USAID/Brazil, the Academy for Educational Development (AED) and the project team implements this IT training for employability project and gives us the opportunity to effect other youth programs in Brazil and around the world.
We have organized our partners into the following five main categories. Explore each of these partnerships to learn more about our project.
Implementing Partners - These partners include five non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have partnered to implement the project. These five NGOs include: The Academy for Educational Development (AED), Casa de Passagem, CDI-Pernambuco, LTNet-Brasil and Porto Digital. Staff from each of these implementing partners are responsible for critical rolls in the project.
Founding and Funding Partners - These partners include businesses, NGOs and governments agencies that partner with Programa Para o Futuro to provide contributions of money, equipment, facilities, software, human resources, technical expertise and other critical project inputs. The founding partners include a select group of organizations that took the risk of partnering with the project when it was little more than an idea. These include USAID/Brazil, IBM-Brasil, the Bank of Brazil the State Government of Pernambuco, the Ministry of Justice, ABA (Brazil and America’s Association - Recife) and Microsoft-Brasil.
Sponsoring Partners - These partners will include private companies, business associations, NGOs, federal, state and municipal government agencies that contribute funds to partly or complete cover the costs of youth participation in the project. At this point (July 2003), only the State Government of Pernambuco, through their "First Jobs" program, and the Ministry of Justice, through their youth program, are sponsoring parts of the costs for some of our youth in different parts of the project.
Internships Partners - These partners will include private companies, NGOs and government agencies that provide internships for our youth during the last 4 months of their one-year training program. During the first 8 months of the training project, staff will be recruit businesses and organizations to offer internships to our youth.
E-Mentoring Partners - These partners include individuals and that become E-Mentors or electronic mentors, with our youth. Our goal is to link each of our youth with on professional working in an IT related business. The e-mentors and their youth communicate via electronic means including e-mail, instant messaging, listservs, discussion fora, etc. to share experiences and perspectives.
